A distinct Golgi-targeting mechanism of dGM130 in Drosophila neurons

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Neuroscience, 2023
GM130 is a matrix protein that is conserved in metazoans and involved in the architecture of the Golgi apparatus. In neurons, Golgi apparatus and dendritic Golgi outposts (GOs) have different compartmental organizations, and GM130 localization is present

Fast multi-scale edge-detection in medical ultrasound signals [PDF]

open access: yesSignal Processing, 2012
In this article we suggest a fast multi-scale edge-detection scheme for medical ultrasound signals. The edge-detector is based on well-known properties of the continuous wavelet trans- form. To achieve both good localization of edges and detect only significant edges, we study the maxima-lines of the wavelet transform.

Use of zero-frequency resonator for automatically detecting systolic peaks of photoplethysmogram signal

open access: yesHealthcare Technology Letters, 2019
This work investigates the application of zero-frequency resonator (ZFR) for detecting systolic peaks of photoplethysmogram (PPG) signals. Based on the authors’ studies, they propose an automated noise-robust method, which consists of the central ...

Statistical properties of radio-frequency and envelope-detected signals with applications to medical ultrasound [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Optical Society of America A, 1987
Both radio-frequency (rf) and envelope-detected signal analyses have lead to successful tissue discrimination in medical ultrasound. The extrapolation from tissue discrimination to a description of the tissue structure requires an analysis of the statistics of complex signals.

Is the Accreditation in Medical Education an Opportunity or a Burden? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The accreditation process (AccP) is both an opportunity and a burden for medical schools—which one it becomes depends on how medical schools recognize and utilize the AccP.
