A platform for management and visualization of medical data and medical imaging
Eighth International Conference on Technological Ecosystems for Enhancing Multiculturality, 2020The application of artificial intelligence algorithms to medical data has gained relevance over the years. These algorithms can enable disease detection, image segmentation, assessment of organ functions, among other research tasks. However, to effectively apply and benefit from artificial intelligence in this context, it is important to tackle the ...

Medications and the visually impaired elderly
Geriatric Nursing, 1996persons aged 65 and older are the largest consumers of medications, accounting for 30% of prescription drugs and 40% of over-the-counter (OTC) medications) But poor eyesight can interfere with the reading of prescription labels, dosage instructions, and the "how to" for opening drug containers.

Visual mapping for medical concepts.
AMIA ... Annual Symposium proceedings. AMIA Symposium, 2004Concept relationships are traditionally defined in human-generated vocabulary lists such as the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH). This poster describes a prototype system that automatically generates concept relationships from the medical literature. The system is directly connected to the PUBMED search engine.

Classification and Visualization of Patterns in Medical Images
2020 24th International Conference Information Visualisation (IV), 2020Histopathology and cytopathology developed for the microscopic examination of tissue samples a specific terminology to describe type and shape of objects and patterns in the composition of nuclei, cells, tissue and anatomical elements. We map such a terminology to Bertin’s visual variables and propose three methods to describe “shape grammar” (1) With ...

A multimodal visualization framework for medical data
Proceedings 13th Brazilian Symposium on Computer Graphics and Image Processing (Cat. No.PR00878), 2002Although the use of information acquired from multiple sources to help in medical diagnosis is increasing, the integration of multivariate data into a unique 3D representation is non-trivial. Multimodal visualization techniques have been proposed with the goal of finding suitable strategies to integrate important characteristics of multiple data sets ...

Visualization of ingested medications in the stomach by ultrasound
The American Journal of Emergency Medicine, 1992The authors describe a potential application of ultrasound in detection of pills in the stomach, and report the first case of its use in a patient. Thirty pills were studied in vitro by ultrasound. All were clearly detected, with better imaging compared with plain radiography.

Multimodality visualization of medical volume data
Computers & Graphics, 1996Abstract New developments in 3-D volume acquisitions are creating a rapidly increasing demand for integrating multimodality 3-D visualization. In order to accomplish routine clinical multimodality visualization, many issues have to be dealt with, such as techniques for accurate spatial registration, integrated representation, suitable graphical user ...
