New medicinal plants are searched to develop more effective and cheaper drugs in place of synthetics drugs. We report here data on the isolation and chemical structure of lehmanin (a flavonone) and ammothamnidin (a chalcone) from Ammothamnus lehmannii Bunge. Their gastroprotective activities were studied in models of stress-induced ulcers and ulcers induced by reserpine and butadione.
