Distribution extension of Proboscis bat Rhynchonycteris naso (Wied-Neuwied, 1820) (Chiroptera: Emballonuridae): new record for southwestern Ecuador [PDF]

open access: yesCheck List, 2013
We report the first confirmed record of Rhynchonycteris naso in southwestern Ecuador. We observed a colony of about 10 individuals roosting under a bridge of a water reservoir that was surrounded by sugar cane crops and located in Naranjito in the ...

Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP) in Mussels from the Eastern Cantabrian Sea: Toxicity, Toxin Profile, and Co-Occurrence with Cyclic Imines

open access: yesToxins, 2021
In the late autumn of 2018 and 2019, some samples taken by the official monitoring systems of Cantabria and the Basque Country were found to be paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP)-positive using a mouse bioassay. To confirm the presence of PSP toxins and

Twenty-Five Years of PSP Toxicity in Galician (NW Spain) Bivalves: Spatial, Temporal, and Interspecific Variations

open access: yesToxins, 2022
Twenty-five years of paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) toxicity in Galician bivalves have been studied. PSP was detected in 4785 out of 73,740 samples of the commercially important bivalve species analyzed from 1995 to 2020.

Spatial and temporal variability of organochlorine compounds in wild mussels from Galician Rías (2010–2019)

open access: yesEnvironmental Advances, 2022
The objective of this work was to determine the spatial distribution and temporal trend (2010–2019) of organochlorine compounds (OCs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), in wild mussels from several Galician Rías ...

Spirolides in Bivalve Mollusk of the Galician (NW Spain) Coast: Interspecific, Spatial, Temporal Variation and Presence of an Isomer of 13-Desmethyl Spirolide C

open access: yesToxins, 2022
Spirolides are cyclic imines whose risks to human health have not been sufficiently evaluated. To determine the possible impact of these compounds in Galicia (NW Spain), their presence and concentration in bivalve mollusk were studied from 2014 to 2021 ...

Spatio-temporal variability of inorganic and organic nutrients in five Galician rias (NW Spain)

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2013
The spatial variability of inorganic (nitrate, nitrite, ammonium, phosphate and silicate) and organic (dissolved organic carbon) nutrients in five Galician rias (Vigo, Pontevedra, Arousa, Muros and Ares-Betanzos) was assessed by considering average ...

Randomized preclinical study of machine perfusion in vascularized composite allografts

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), EarlyView., 2020
This study was designed to identify the optimum machine perfusion parameters for preservation of limbs before transplantation, and determine whether this was better than cold storage. Normothermic machine perfusion at a pressure of 70 mmHg (NMP‐70) provided superior preservation to cold storage after transplantation.

Development of a method for the determination of SCCPs (short-chain chlorinated paraffins) in bivalve mollusk using Soxtec device followed by gas chromatography-triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry

open access: yesJournal of Analytical Science and Technology, 2018
Background Organochlorinated compounds are major environmental concern due to their persistence, long-range transportability and bio-accumulation. Chlorinated paraffin (CP) mixtures, especially short-chain CPs (SCCPs), are found in environmental samples ...

Health‐related quality of life following total minimally invasive, hybrid minimally invasive or open oesophagectomy: a population‐based cohort study

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), EarlyView., 2020
All patients operated for oesophageal cancer in Sweden from 2013 to April 2018 were identified, and 246 patients were recruited to this population‐based nationwide Swedish study. The results show that longitudinal health‐related quality of life after minimally invasive oesophagectomy was similar to that of the open surgical approach.
