Bone oedema‐like lesions at the enthesis of DIPJ collateral ligaments: MRI findings, management and outcome

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, EarlyView.
Summary Bone oedema‐like lesion is characterised by hyperintense signal in short tau inversion recovery (STIR) sequences on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Bone oedema‐like lesions involving the enthesis of the collateral ligament (CL) of the distal interphalangeal joint (DIPJ) have not been investigated as a cause of lameness.

Estimating Time‐Varying Productivity and Reference Points: A Case of North Sea Demersal Fish Stocks

open access: yesFish and Fisheries, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The productivity of marine fish populations determines both maximum sustainable yield (MSY) and resilience to exploitation. While biological reference points like MSY and BMSY$$ {B}_{\mathrm{MSY}} $$ depend on species traits and population density, they are also influenced by environmental variability and ecological interactions.

Absence of negative effect of GPS‐tags on survival and breeding success in a long‐lived territorial raptor

open access: yesIbis, EarlyView.
GPS tracking has enabled significant advances in the study of animal movements such as migration and habitat use. However, GPS devices can affect the behaviour of tagged individuals, especially for flying animals such as birds, and may ultimately impair their reproduction and/or survival.

Modelling migration dynamics of Common Cranes and Eurasian Spoonbills as hydrological flow

open access: yesIbis, EarlyView.
The migration of birds through a stopover site may be understood as a physical process of hydrological flow through a reservoir whose water levels rise and fall over a migration period. Hydrological flow models show promise as a way of integrating information on storage (daily counts of birds), inflow/outflow (number of birds arriving/departing each ...
