Heterogeneity in Food Price Inflation Convergence Across the EU: Evidence From Club Dynamics and Structural Breaks

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines food price inflation rate convergence among EU27 Member States from 2005 to 2024, focusing on structural breaks, external shocks, and regional disparities. Using panel unit root tests and club convergence analysis, the findings reveal no overall convergence but identify multiple convergence clubs.

Could the chemical industry mitigate rapid global cooling from a catastrophic volcanic eruption?

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Estimates based on historical data place the probability of a catastrophic volcanic eruption in the next 100 years at around one in six. Large volcanic eruptions can lead to significant global cooling for 2–4 years, with potentially devastating impacts on global agriculture.

Climate Changes and Tree Phylogeography in the Mediterranean

open access: yesTaxon, 2005
AbstractThe Mediterranean Basin is expected to be more strongly affected by ongoing global climate change than most other regions of the earth. Given the magnitude of forecasted trends, there are great concerns for the particularly rich biodiversity found in the region. Studies of the consequences of past climate shifts on biodiversity represent one of

Does the abiotic environment influence the distribution of flower and fruit colors?

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Color in flowers and fruits carries multiple functions, from attracting animal partners (pollinators, dispersers) to mitigating environmental stress (cold, drought, UV‐B). With research historically focusing on biotic interactions as selective agents, however, it remains unclear whether abiotic stressors impact flower and fruit colors ...
