Tempering and Intercritical Annealing of Air‐Hardening 4 wt% Medium Manganese Steels
The mechanical properties after tempering and intercritical annealing of medium manganese steels with 4 wt% Mn for forging applications are presented. After forging with subsequent air cooling, heat treatments were performed, specifically tempering from 250 and 450 °C and intercritical annealing between 600 and 675 °C.

A Review of Key Factors Affecting the Wear Performance of Medium Manganese Steels
In recent years, medium manganese steels (MMSs) have garnered increased attention and interest due to their relatively low cost and superior combination properties compared to other steels. In particular, MMSs have been recognised as ideal wear-resistant

Plasma Nitriding of an Air-Hardening Medium Manganese Forging Steel
Abstract The impact of plasma nitriding on the microstructure and the hardness of a recently developed 4 wt.-% medium manganese steel are presented. In contrast to standard quench and tempering steels, the investigated material achieves its martensitic microstructure by air-cooling from the forging heat, which enables the reduction of ...

Microbial catalysis of the oxygen reduction reaction for microbial fuel cells: a review. [PDF]
The slow kinetics of the electrochemical oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is a crucial bottleneck in the development of microbial fuel cells (MFCs). This article firstly gives an overview of the particular constraints imposed on ORR by MFC operating ...

Twin-induced plasticity of an ECAP-processed TWIP steel [PDF]
The TWIP steels show high strain hardening rates with high ductility which results in high ultimate tensile strength. This makes their processing by equal channel angular pressing very difficult.
