Raman Spectroscopic Identification of Oxide Phases in a Corroded MgO–Steel Composite Anode Used in Aluminum Molten Salt Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Micro‐Raman spectroscopy is applied to characterize corrosion products in a recycled‐based MgO–316L steel composite anode after molten salt electrolysis. A depth‐dependent Fe–O/Fe–Al–O layer sequence of magnetite, hercynite, and an Al‐doped magnetite transition zone is identified.

Optimising the laser-welded butt-joints of medium carbon steel using RSM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The optimization capabilities in design-expert software were used to optimise the keyhole parameters (i.e. maximize penetration (P) and minimise the heat input, width of welded zone, (W) and width of heat affected zone (WHAZ)) in CW CO2 laser butt ...

Interaction of MgO Recyclate‐Based Cermet Anode With KF‐AlF3‐Al2O3 at 800°C During Laboratory Scale Aluminum Molten Salt Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A carbon‐free, as‐sintered MgO–steel cermet anode, fabricated via cold isostatic pressing using MgO–C refractory recyclate, was evaluated under laboratory‐scale K‐cryolite electrolysis at 800°C. Operation at this reduced temperature, combined with the electrolyte's limited electrical conductivity, led to an increase in cell voltage.

Adjusting the microstructure evolution, mechanical properties and deformation behaviors of Fe-5.95Mn-1.55Si-1.03Al-0.055C medium Mn steel by cold-rolling reduction ratio

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
For a representative medium Mn steel with the actual chemical composition of Fe-5.95 Mn-1.55Si-1.03Al-0.055 C (wt. %), the effect of cold-rolling deformation on microstructural evolution and mechanical properties was investigated systematically.

A Technique for Making Nuclear Fusion in Solids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A technique is described for making nuclear fusion at room temperature by compressing a powder mixture comprising a deuteride and catalytic material. The result is explosive beyond known chemical reaction for the materials.

Interaction of Ladle Slag With Varying SiO2 Content and Recyclate‐Based MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ladle slags (CaO/Al2O3 = 1) with 1–20 wt% SiO2 were investigated in contact with industrial MgO–C refractories fabricated from fresh magnesia and 50 wt% recyclate. The sessile drop method at 1600°C reveals intensive gas formation, delayed slag infiltration in recyclate‐based samples, and, under high‐SiO2 slag, formation of a dense MgAl2O4‐rich ...

Vaporization Behaviors of Manganese in Medium and High Mn Steel Grades during Vacuum Treatment

open access: yesTeshugang, 2018
In order to understand the vaporization behaviors of Mn in medium and high Mn steel grades during vacuum treatment, industrial experiments and thermodynamic calculations were carried out. The results indicate that Mn vaporization would lead to an obvious

A Water-Air Circulation Cooling Process Used for Normalizing Structure and Performance Control of Hypoeutectoid Steel Medium- and Thick-Walled Seamless Steel Pipes

open access: yesTeshugang, 2021
In order to study the normalizing cooling rate and the cooling uniformity of hypoeutectoid steel medium- and thick-walled seamless steel tube with wall thickness ≥30 mm, the water-air circulation cooling model is used for the normalizing structure and ...

Development of Sustainable MgO–C Refractories Using MgO–C Recyclates and a Novel Eco‐Friendly Fructose–Tannin Binder Crosslinked With Citric Acid

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops sustainable MgO–C refractories using recycled materials and eco‐friendly fructose–tannin binders. The enhanced performance of citric acid as a cross‐linker and functional additives on mechanical and thermomechanical properties was examined. Characterization included strength tests, immersion trials, and microstructural and inclusion
