Abstract Investigations of bone microanatomy are commonly used to explore lifestyle strategies in vertebrates. While distinct microanatomical limb bone features have been established for exclusively aquatic and terrestrial lifestyles, identifying clear patterns for the semiaquatic lifestyle remains more challenging.
