Intraoperative cytological examination of bone medullary. A useful technique to predict the extension of bone invasion in segmental mandibulectomy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Aim: The main of the present report is to evaluate the utility of intraoperative cytological analysis of medullary bone to predict the extension of bone infiltration in segmental mandibulectomy.

Micro‐Galvanic Coupling Programs the Therapeutic Zinc Ion Window to Reconfigure Immune Cascades for Pro‐Regenerative Bone Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study utilized alloy micro‐galvanic coupling design to regulate the release of essential elements, thereby programming immune responses and promoting regeneration. The sacrificial anodic process of Zn‐0.8Mg reduced Zn2+ release compared to the “large cathode‐small anode” coupling of Zn‐0.8Fe.

Osseointegração clínica-radiológica do compósito hidroxiapatita-lignina entre implante metálico e tecido ósseo em coelho Clinical-radiographic osseointegration of hydroxyapatite-lignin composite between metallic implant and bone tissue in rabbit

Spontaneous Distal Extrusion of Kuntscher Intramedullary Nail

open access: yesCase Reports in Orthopedics, 2021
Migration of femoral Kuntscher intramedullary nail (K-nail) proximally or distally within the femoral medullary cavity is a well-known documented complication, but spontaneous extrusion of a distally migrated K-nail is a rare complication. This is a case

Deep Learning Network‐Tailored Microenvironment Matching of 4D Bioprinting Bioactive Scaffolds for Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A DLN dataset was built to analyze MABS composition versus in vitro/in vivo osteogenesis and angiogenesis. An MLP neural network, taking BG morphological parameters as input, extracts bioactive features from these datasets. A rabbit tibial defect model then validates 4D‐printed MABS for adaptability and bone regeneration in critical defects.

Periosteal Chondroma of the Fifth Finger

open access: yesJournal of the Belgian Society of Radiology
Teaching point: Periosteal chondroma is a rare type of chondroma characterized by a subperiosteal, calcified soft tissue mass that compresses the cortical bone and does not involve the medullary cavity.

Clinical utility of pharyngeal high‐resolution manometry with impedance for upper esophageal sphincter dysfunction in gastroenterology

open access: yesAdvances in Digestive Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Pharyngeal high‐resolution manometry with impedance (P‐HRM‐I) is an established assessment method used to evaluate pharyngeal swallowing. It provides precise quantification of swallowing biomechanics that enable the detection of alterations in swallowing physiology.

Sacral Emphysematous Osteomyelitis Caused by Escherichia coli after Arthroscopy of the Knee

open access: yesCase Reports in Orthopedics, 2016
Emphysematous osteomyelitis is a rare but serious condition which is often associated with a fatal outcome. The typical appearances of emphysematous osteomyelitis are clusters of small gas bubbles within the medullary cavity.
