The Mitogen‐Activated Protein Kinase GhNTF3 Modulates the Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Symbiosis‐Immunity Trade‐Off in Cotton by Regulating Salicylic Acid Biosynthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
AM symbiosis induces GhWAK13 to promote fungal colonization. GhNTF3 negatively regulates symbiosis by promoting SA biosynthesis. GhWAK13 sequesters GhNTF3 at the membrane, limiting its nuclear translocation and relieving SA‐mediated suppression. Under Verticillium stress, GhNTF3 enters the nucleus and interacts with GhJAZ6 to activate SA signaling ...

The Sinful Woman as an Example of Metanoia in the Byzantian Poetry

open access: yesClassica Cracoviensia, 2014
Sinful Woman as an Example of Metanoia in the Byzantian Poetry A story about the sinful woman is told in the Gospel, where she is an example of deep repentance. The Byzantine authors often used this example in their poetic and homiletic works.

OAF Blocks SIAH1‐Mediated Degradation of SCPX, a Therapeutic Strategy for MASLD

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows OAF directly binds to SCPX and inhibits its interaction with the E3 ligase SIAH1, thereby protecting SCPX from ubiquitin‐dependent degradation and stabilizing its levels. This OAF‐SCPX axis represents a novel pathway in lipid homeostasis, highlighting OAF as a promising therapeutic candidate for MASLD.

Spatiotemporal Thermal Modulation and Patterning using a Programmable 1024 Element Microheater Array

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Programmable microheater arrays are essential for a variety of applications. However, large arrays have thus far not been realized. We introduce a programmable 32×$\times$32 microheater array consisting of heating elements – each smaller than 300 μm$\umu{\rm m}$.

MEGAS Modelling and Experiments on Gas Migration in Repository Host Rocks

open access: yes, 1992
For the option of a deep geological repository for high level waste, several potential sources of gases were identified: i.e. the anaerobic corrosion of iron, tbe degradation of organic materials, tbe generation by gamma radiolysis and the gas present as

Physicians of the Body Versus Therapists of the Word: Reflections On Medicine and Sophistry

open access: yesPeitho, 2013
The aim of the present paper is to investigate the connection between ancient medicine and sophistry at the end of 5th century B.C. Beginning with analyses of some passages from the De vetere medicina (VM), De natura hominis (NH) and De arte, the article

Detaching Photosensitive Nanoparticles from Cells Prevents Them from Remaining in Cells after Photoporation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phenylboronic acid‐functionalized gold nanoparticles reversibly attach to cell‐surface glycans, enhancing photoporation‐mediated intracellular delivery. After irradiation, ATP competitively disrupts the boronic ester interactions and removes cell‐associated nanoparticles, markedly reducing residual gold.

Phoenix Edition

open access: yes, 1977
An engaging and well documented little volume, with excellent notes, bibliography, and lists of motifs and tale types. An early comment notes that folktales fill out the story of fables, which tended to be brief and aimed at the moral.

Non‐Coding Transcripts From Diversified Members of IgLec Family Protect Antiviral Effectors From Viral miRNA

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The IgLec gene family generates both protein‐coding antiviral effectors and non‐coding transcripts. Upon viral infection, non‐coding transcripts are preferentially targeted by viral miR‐N48, thereby buffering protein‐coding isoforms from repression. Depletion of these decoy transcripts compromises antiviral defense, revealing a non‐coding RNA‐mediated ...

Self‐Driving Laboratory Optimizes the Lower Critical Solution Temperature of Thermoresponsive Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
A low‐cost, self‐driving laboratory is developed to democratize autonomous materials discovery. Using this "frugal twin" hardware architecture with Bayesian optimization, the platform rapidly converges to target lower critical solution temperature (LCST) values while self‐correcting from off‐target experiments, demonstrating an accessible route to data‐
