Cytotoxic Diterpenoids from Isodon megathyrsus

Journal of Natural Products, 1994
A new diterpenoid, megathyrin A, together with three known compounds, rabdocoetsins B, C, and D, were isolated from the leaves of Isodon megathyrsus, and their structures and nmr spectral data were assigned by a combination of one- and two-dimensional nmr techniques. These compounds displayed significant cytotoxic activity.

Development of Megathyrsus Maximus Genotypes for Intensification of Cattle Rearing in Brazil

XXV International Grassland Congress (IGC 2023), 2023
Megathyrsus maximus is a forage species used over 30 million hectares in Brazil and in the surrounding countries for intensification of the cattle production systems. Due to the large area and distinct biomes in which it is used, there is a need to continuously develop more productive and adapted cultivars to each biome and use.

Megathyrin B: A Cytotoxic Diterpene fromIsodon megathyrsus

Planta Medica, 1998
From the leaves of Isodon megathyrsus, a novel ent-kaurene diterpene, megathyrin B, was isolated and its structure determined as 1 alpha,7 beta,11 beta,15 beta-tetrahydroxy-ent-7 alpha,20-epoxy-kaur-16-ene by 1D- and 2D-NMR spectral analysis. Additionally, its stereochemistry was unambiguously assigned by X-ray crystallography.

Effects of leaf and stem maturation on nutritional value in Megathyrsus maximus

Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture
AbstractBackgroundMegathyrsus maximus is a forage grass native to Africa but widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions of the world where it is part of the grazing food chain. This study aimed to evaluate five M. maximus genotypes for the effect of maturity on their morpho‐agronomic traits, nutritional composition and digestibility, and to ...

Growth, productivity and quality of Megathyrsus maximus under cover from Gliricidia sepium

Agroforestry Systems, 2013
The effect of tree canopy on the growth, productivity and forage quality of Megathyrsus maximus and changes in soil properties were evaluated over three seasonal periods. Four adjacent plots (15 m × 17 m each) in a tropical secondary deciduous forest having 12 years of growth and dominated by Gliricidia sepium were randomly assigned to two treatments ...
