Spatial Patterns of Westerschelde Meiobenthos

Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science, 1994
Abstract The meiobenthic fauna of the Westerschelde, a highly polluted and physically disturbed estuary in the south-west Netherlands, was investigated. Samples were taken in spring from six transects, including the intertidal, subtidal and channel area, and located along the salinity gradient.

ECOLOGY OF MARINE MEIOBENTHOS

Biological Reviews, 1969
Summary1. The term ‘meiobenthos’ (or ‘meiofauna’) has been used in the literature in a broad sense to designate collectively small individuals, mainly metazoans, which could be separated from the larger animals by fine sieves of about i mm. or 0.5 mm. mesh. It has been variously defined in terms of the sampling or sorting technique employed.

Metazoan meiobenthos along continental margins: a review

Progress in Oceanography, 2000
The sediment-inhabiting meiofauna is a major component of benthic ecosystems, particularly in the deep sea. Knowledge on the deep-sea meiobenthos has increased considerably during recent decades, and attempts have been made to relate standing stocks with various environmental factors. The flux of organic matter from surface productivity to the seafloor

Meiobenthos of the eastern shelf of the Kara Sea compared with the meiobenthos of other parts of the sea

Regional Studies in Marine Science, 2018
Abstract The meiofauna was studied at 7 stations in the eastern part of the Kara Sea shelf and at the southern edge of the Voronin Trough. The total meiofaunal abundance was 682 ± 403 ind./10 cm2 and 10 major meiofaunal taxa were recorded for the eastern part of the Kara Sea.
