Causal Effect of Dietary Patterns on Cerebral Small Vessel Disease: A Mendelian Randomization Study

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
This Mendelian randomization (MR) study reveals causal links between dietary factors and cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) neuroimaging markers. Genetically predicted higher polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) levels reduce white matter hyperintensity volume, while monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) intake lowers lobar brain microbleeds (BMB) risk.

Identifying Causal Genotype–Phenotype Relationships for Population‐Sampled Parent–Child Trios

open access: yesGenetic Epidemiology, Volume 50, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT The process by which genes are transmitted from parent to child provides a source of randomization preceding all other factors that may causally influence any particular child phenotype. Because of this, it is natural to consider genetic transmission as a source of experimental randomization.

Extending the Use of Mendelian Randomisation With Non‐Inherited Variants to Assess Socially Transmitted Parental Exposures Under Assortative Mating

open access: yesGenetic Epidemiology, Volume 50, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT A longstanding aim of developmental psychology and epidemiology is to understand the causal effects of parental phenotypes on offspring outcomes. Traditional approaches often fail to account for confounding and reverse causation. We evaluate the use of Mendelian randomisation with non‐inherited variants (MR‐NIV) to address these limitations ...

Testicular Morphology and Spermatogenesis in Potamotrygon motoro: Insights Into Reproduction of Freshwater Stingrays

open access: yesJournal of Morphology, Volume 287, Issue 2, February 2026.
Electron microscopy of Potamotrygon motoro spermatozoa. a – Illustration of a schematic sperm cell depicting the helical head, intermediate piece (midpiece), and flagellum. b ‐ Helical heads (Hh) of spermatozoa inserted into the cytoplasm of Sertoli cells (S) through openings in the plasma membrane. Scales: 10 μm.

Identification of a Novel Missense Homozygous Variant in LINS1 in Two Distinct Iranian Families With Consanguineous Marriage

open access: yesMolecular Genetics &Genomic Medicine, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
A novel homozygous missense variant in LINS1 (c.1354G>C; p.Ala452Pro) was identified in two consanguineous families with autosomal recessive intellectual disability, supporting the gene's role in neurodevelopment and its relevance in genetic diagnosis and counseling of ARID. Reported pathogenic LINS1 variants.
