Meiosis in man

Trends in Genetics, 1988
Abstract The study of human meiosis impinges on clinically important areas such as infertility and aneuploidy, and an understanding of the behaviour of chromosomes in the germ line is essential for those engaged in genetic counselling. Recent advances in cytological techniques are allowing detailed observation of chromosomes in the prophase stage ...

MEIOSIS IN COPRINUS: VI. THE CONTROL OF THE INITIATION OF MEIOSIS

Canadian Journal of Genetics and Cytology, 1974
Meiosis in Coprinus lagopus is normally initiated at night under normal diurnal conditions. This timing can be shifted to 0900-1000 h by using a 16h light-8h dark regime with the light cycle commencing at 1600 h. For the initiation of meiosis, C. lagopus is temperature sensitive (35 C) under continuous light. The temperature sensitivity can be overcome

Meiosis

1990
Meiosis, the antithesis of fertilization, is the unique genetically programmed mode of nuclear division associated with a halving of the chromosome number in sexually reproducing eukaryotes. It thus represents a key cellular and developmental pathway in the life of an organism.

Meiosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Meiosis, the process of forming gametes in preparation for sexual reproduction, has long been a focus of intense study. Meiosis has been studied at the cytological, genetic, molecular and cellular levels.
