Extending efficient spectral envelope modeling to Mel-frequency based representation

open access: yes2008 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2008
In this work we consider the problem of spectral envelope estimation using spectra with perceptually warped frequency axis. The goal of this work is the reduction of the order of the spectral envelope model which will facilitate the use of these envelopes for training of voice conversion systems.

Evaluation of Mel-Frequency Cepstrum for Wheeze Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes2019 41st Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2019
Monitoring of wheezes is an integral part of managing Chronic Respiratory Diseases such as asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Recently, there is a growing interest in automatic detection of wheezes and the use of Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) have been shown to achieve encouraging detection performance.

A comparative between Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) and Inverse Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (IMFCC) features for an Automatic Bird Species Recognition System

open access: yes2018 IEEE Latin American Conference on Computational Intelligence (LA-CCI), 2018
In this paper a comparative between Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) and Inverse Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (IMFCC) features for an automatic bird species recognition system is proposed with the aim to validate IMFCC as a feature that can also be extracted for bird species recognition.

Improved speech emotion recognition with Mel frequency magnitude coefficient

Applied Acoustics, 2021
Abstract Automatic speech emotion recognition using machine learning is a demanding research topic in the field of affective computing. Identifying the speech features for speech emotion recognition is a challenging issue as the feature needs to emphasize the information about emotion from the speech.

Mel-frequency Cepstral Coefficients for Eye Movement Identification

open access: yes2012 IEEE 24th International Conference on Tools with Artificial Intelligence, 2012
Human identification is an important task for various activities in society. In this paper, we consider the problem of human identification using eye movement information. This problem, which is usually called the eye movement identification problem, can be solved by training a multiclass classification model to predict a person's identity from his or ...

Speech enhancement using hidden Markov models in Mel-frequency domain

Speech Communication, 2013
Hidden Markov model (HMM)-based minimum mean square error speech enhancement method in Mel-frequency domain is focused on and a parallel cepstral and spectral (PCS) modeling is proposed. Both Mel-frequency spectral (MFS) and Mel-frequency cepstral (MFC) features are studied and experimented for speech enhancement. To estimate clean speech waveform from
