The Introduction of Extended Out‐of‐Home Care (OOHC) Until 21 Years in Australia: A Mapping of Policy, Legislation and Programs in Each Jurisdiction

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT It is increasingly recognised by global research that extending out‐of‐home care (OOHC) until at least 21 years of age is the policy reform most likely to advance improved outcomes for care leavers. In recent years, all eight Australian jurisdictions (States and Territories) have introduced forms of extended care programs.

Regulatory T cell‐derived interleukin‐15 promotes the diversity of immunological memory

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 53, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
We investigated the identity of IL‐15 producing cells using several mouse strains with cell type‐specific loss of IL‐15 expression. After the resolution of acute infection, IL‐15 secreted by regulatory cells, but not skeletal muscles or myeloid cells, was required for the maintenance of a subset of memory cells referred to as terminal effector memory T

Antiviral effects and mechanism of Qi pi pill against influenza viruses

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Qi pi pill presents anti‐influenza effect and inhibits viral replication in vitro by targeting both the viral RNA replication and the release of new viral particles. Furthermore, QPP modulates the production of proinflammatory cytokines induced by influenza infection in host cells.

A companion to the preclinical common data elements for rodent models of pediatric acquired epilepsy: A report of the TASK3‐WG1B, Pediatric and Genetic Models Working Group of the ILAE/AES Joint Translational Task Force

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Epilepsy syndromes during the early years of life may be attributed to an acquired insult, such as hypoxic–ischemic injury, infection, status epilepticus, or brain trauma. These conditions are frequently modeled in experimental rodents to delineate mechanisms of epileptogenesis and investigate novel therapeutic strategies.

Psychoses of Epilepsy: Unravelling the Phenotypic and Genotypic Features

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objectives We analyzed the genotypic and phenotypic features of patients with psychosis of epilepsy (POE). Methods Patients with POE recruited to an epilepsy genetics research program underwent phenotyping and genetic analysis. The latter included screening for rare pathogenic variants in epilepsy genes, and polygenic risk score (PRS) calculation for ...

A companion to the preclinical common data elements for rodent genetic epilepsy models. A report of the TASK3‐WG1B: Paediatric and genetic models working group of the ILAE/AES joint translational TASK force

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Rodent models of epilepsy remain the cornerstone of research into the mechanisms underlying genetic epilepsy. Reproducibility of experiments using these rodent models, occurring across a diversity of laboratories and commercial vendors, remains an issue impacting the cost‐effectiveness and scientific rigor of the studies performed.
