Disentangling late quaternary fluvial and climatic drivers of palaeohydrological change in the Najaf Sea basin, Western Iraq

This first geochronological study of the Najaf Basin shows that the basin likely formed shortly before 26 ka BP, with significant fluvial activity in the Wadi al Milh c. 26–18 ka BP. There is no evidence for raised water levels during the early Holocene humid period.
