The scaling of seed‐dispersal specialization in interaction networks across levels of organization

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Natural ecosystems are characterized by a specialization pattern where few species are common while many others are rare. In ecological networks involving biotic interactions, specialization operates as a continuum at individual, species, and community levels. Theory predicts that ecological and evolutionary factors can primarily explain specialization.

Revision of Creochiton (Melastomataceae) [PDF]

open access: yesBlumea - Biodiversity, Evolution and Biogeography of Plants, 2013
A taxonomic revision of the Malesian genus Creochiton (Melastomataceae) is presented. Twelve species are recognized, although one is based on the original description only. Creochiton turbinatus (comb. nov.) is raised to specific rank from a variety of C. ledermannii.

Characterization of the chloroplast genome of Osbeckia stellata (Melastomataceae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2019
Osbeckia stellata (Melastomataceae) is a shrub distributed in the South. Although many species of Osbeckia have important medicinal value, the phylogenetic position of Osbeckia within the family Melastomataceae remains unclear.

Multitemporal Analysis of Land Cover Changes in the Rabanal Páramo Ecosystem (Colombia) From 2000 to 2020 and Its Planning Regulations

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, Volume 36, Issue 7, Page 2247-2258, 30 April 2025.
ABSTRACT The páramos, with their high biodiversity and benefits to humanity, are crucial ecosystems in Colombia. Despite their importance, there is a significant knowledge gap regarding the extent of land cover changes and the identification of planning regulatory milestones on these ecosystems.

Anthropogenic disturbances simplify frugivory interactions in Amazonia

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Frugivory interactions are essential ecological processes for the regeneration of tropical forests, ensuring ecosystem resilience following disturbances. However, little is known about how frugivory interactions are shaped by anthropogenic disturbances, especially in Amazonia – one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on Earth.

Hot node limitations and impact of taxonomic resolution on phylogenetic divergence patterns: A case study on Ecuadorian ethnomedicinal flora

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 7, Issue 3, Page 644-653, May 2025.
Novel phylogenetic approaches have emerged in recent years to study traditional medicinal plants, aiming to identify potential sources of new drugs. This line of research holds considerable promise yet remains in its early stages. Here, we examine the prevalent methods employed in the field, revealing the impact of methodological choices that have ...

Plant biodiversity, vegetation structure and provisioning services in rainforest, traditional and industrial oil palm cultivation systems in Liberia, West Africa

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Oil palm is native to the west African forest, where industrial production is expanding. We assessed differences in plant biodiversity, vegetation structure and provisioning services across 54 forest, community agriculture and oil palm plots in Sinoe County, Liberia.
