Diversity of Crenosoma species in mustelids with the first molecular characterization of C. melesi and C. petrowi

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2023
Species of genus Crenosoma have a wide distribution and are reported in Europe, the Americas, and Asia. Currently, the genus includes 14 nominal species, out of which 9 are parasitic in mustelids. Two species are mostly reported in mustelids from Europe,

Regional and Temporal Differences in the Functionality of Facultative Vertebrate Scavenger Communities. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
We examined the functionality of vertebrate scavenger guilds on a regional and temporal scale using a dataset collected in protected areas in three regions in the Netherlands, characterised by the absence of large carnivores and obligate scavengers. Our results demonstrate that the functionality of scavenger communities is shaped by both regional and ...

Efficacy of heat-inactivated Mycobacterium bovis vaccine delivered to European badgers (Meles meles) through edible bait [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
[EN] Badgers (Meles meles) are a major tuberculosis (TB) reservoir in Europe, with the potential to transmit infection to cattle. Here we assessed whether a recently described oral tuberculosis vaccine based on heat-inactivated Mycobacterium bovis (HIMB),

Mechanochemistry Meets Catalysis: Metal Complexes for Greener Organic Transformations

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Mechanochemistry is redefining metal catalysis by controlling catalyst formulation, speciation, and deployment. This Review shows how milling, LAG, RAM, and TSE enable rapid metal‐complex assembly, distinctive catalytic manifolds, and scalable synthesis beyond solution chemistry.

On the Ability of Bismuth to Couple Weakly Coordinating Anions

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Motivated by the growing number of catalytic processes based on high‐valent Bi, we investigated in silico the reductive elimination step responsible for the coupling of weakly coordinating anions. Relativistic contributions appeared to be decisive to the electronic description of the intermediates involved in this process.
