Propolis produced by stingless bees has a high economic value in Indonesia. Bukit Sandy is a plantation area in Cimenyan, Bandung which is famous for citrus picking tourism and has the potential to be developed for meliponiculture. Currently, there are stingless bee colonies in Bukit Sandy, but the colonies are not growing well.

The Past, Present, and Future of Meliponiculture in Mexico
2018Accounts on ancient meliponiculture are not abundant for the Americas. Most pre-Columbian evidence comes from Mexico, in particular from the Yucatan Peninsula. Early accounts from Spaniards indicate that outstanding levels of husbandry and large concentrations of colonies of Melipona beecheii (‘Xunan kab’ in Mayan) were present in the region.

Meliponiculture for Pollination Support, Yield Enhancement and Poverty Eradication
2016Trigona (Tetragonula) iridipennis Smith is the common stingless bee found in South India. They are domesticated in mud pots, bamboo bits, wooden boxes or coconut shells. Meliponiculture is being popularized in the rural homesteads for poverty alleviation and additional income generation.
