Melnikov method for autonomous Hamiltonians

open access: yes, 1996
The web page contains both the dvi and postscript version of the paper. This paper presents the method of applying the Melnikov method to autonomous Hamiltonian systems in dimension four. Besides giving an application to Celestial Mechanics, it discusses the problem of convergence of the Melnikov function and the derivative of the Melnikov function.

Enrichment of Helminth Mitochondrial Genomes From Faecal Samples Using Hybridisation Capture

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 25, Issue 8, November 2025.
ABSTRACT New approaches are urgently needed to enrich rare or low‐abundant DNA in complex samples. Soil‐transmitted helminths (STHs) inhabit heterogeneous environments, including the gastrointestinal tract of their host as adults and are excreted as eggs and larvae in faeces, complicating our understanding of their biology and the use of genetic tools ...

Gangs, Labor Mobility, and Development

open access: yesEconometrica, Volume 93, Issue 6, Page 2083-2121, November 2025.
We study how criminal organizations affect economic development. We exploit a natural experiment in El Salvador, where these criminal organizations emerged due to an exogenous shift in American immigration policy that led to the deportation of gang leaders from the United States to El Salvador.

Taxonomic resolution in dual‐polarization weather radar observations of biological scatterers: A systematic review

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract The derivation of biological information—abundance, diversity, movement of organisms—from dual‐polarization weather surveillance radars (WSRs) presents an opportunity for novel large‐scale biodiversity monitoring. This review takes a systematic approach to ask what degree of taxonomic resolution has so far been achieved in dual‐polarization ...

A Novel Framework to Project the Permafrost Fate With Explicit Quantification of Soil Property and Future Climate Uncertainties

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Earth Surface, Volume 130, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract This study develops a novel general framework to project the permafrost fate with rigorous uncertainty quantification to assess dominant sources. Borehole temperature records from three sites in the Russian western Arctic are used to constrain the uncertainty of a high‐fidelity freeze‐thaw model.

Buried Cobalt‐rich Ferromanganese Crusts from Weijia Guyot and their Implications for Pacific Plate Motion

open access: yesActa Geologica Sinica - English Edition, Volume 99, Issue 5, Page 1344-1354, October 2025.
Abstract Weijia Guyot, located in the western Pacific Ocean, has become a research focus due to its abundant cobalt‐rich ferromanganese (Fe‐Mn) crusts. While most studies on Fe‐Mn crusts on seamounts have focused on the exposed variety, less attention has been paid to potential buried crusts.
