The endemic South American genus Picnoseus Solier (Tenebrionoidea: Meloidae: Pyrotini) is revised. Picnoseus is distributed primarily in arid regions of the Andean Region, including Central Chile, and the Andean and Monte provinces.

Distributional patterns of Meloidae (Coleoptera)
Oriental Insects, 1980Abstract Meloidae, commonly known as blister beetles, are of great economic importance. Only 105 species belonging to 18 genera, 8 tribes and 3 subfamilies have so far been reported from India, in comparison to over 2300 species from the world. A preliminary zoogcographical analysis is presented here.
