Solanum torvum is a resistant and tolerant rootstock to Meloidogyne with a fitness cost to the nematode in eggplant but not in tomato. Unfortunately, grafted tomato franked and plant growth and yield is delayed in field conditions. Abstract Meloidogyne spp. are the most devastating plant‐parasitic nematodes affecting tomato worldwide.

Reproduction of Meloidogyne enterolobii in lettuce cultivars of the American group [PDF]
Lettuce is the main vegetable cultivated in Brazil, in volume and in marketed value. There are ranges of diseases which may affect lettuce crops, including those caused by root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.). We evaluated the reproductive potential of Meloidogyne enterolobii in 22 lettuce cultivars.

"REAÇÃO DE DIFERENTES ESPÉCIES VEGETAIS AO FITONEMATOIDE Meloidogyne enterolobii" [PDF]
"O fitonematoide Meloidogyne enterolobii apresenta importância no país, por ser uma espécie de alta polifagia, ter elevado fator reprodutivo, grande poder de disseminação e elevada capacidade de atacar plantas resistentes à outras espécies de Meloidogyne.

The Effect of Host-Induced Me-chs-1 Gene Silencing on the Pathogenicity of Meloidogyne enterolobii
Meloidogyne enterolobii, is a devastating pathogen capable of overcoming conventional resistance genes. This study presents the first investigation into targeting the chitin synthase gene Me-chs-1 in M. enterolobii using host-induced gene silencing (HIGS)

Commodity risk assessment of Petunia spp. and Calibrachoa spp. unrooted cuttings from Costa Rica
Abstract The European Commission requested the EFSA Panel on Plant Health to evaluate the probability of entry of pests (likelihood of pest freedom at entry), including both regulated and non‐regulated pests, associated with unrooted cuttings of the genera Petunia and Calibrachoa produced under physical isolation in Costa Rica.

CATLe, a novel secreted effector from root‐knot nematodes, exhibits catalase activity, regulates plant ROS levels by directly catalysing H2O2 decomposition, suppresses plant immune responses and promotes parasitism. Abstract Plants produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) upon infection, which typically trigger defence mechanisms and impede pathogen ...

Biochemical and nanotechnological approaches to combat phytoparasitic nematodes
Summary The foundation of most food production systems underpinning global food security is the careful management of soil resources. Embedded in the concept of soil health is the impact of diverse soil‐borne pests and pathogens, and phytoparasitic nematodes represent a particular challenge.

IDENTIFICATION OF SOURCES OF RESISTANCE TO Meloidogyne enterolobii IN ACEROLA

Meloidogyne chitwoodi, M. enterolobii, and M. luci are present in some EU countries, with restricted distributions, and plant resistance can be used to manage these nematodes. Two pot experiments were conducted under controlled conditions for 56 d to assess the host suitability of two potential rootstocks, Cucumis metuliferus BGV11135 and Citrullus ...
