Pulmonary hypertension in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 178, Issue 1, Page 132-151, January 2021., 2021
Even mild pulmonary hypertension (PH) is associated with increased mortality and morbidity in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, the underlying mechanisms remain elusive; therefore, specific and efficient treatment options are not available.

Irregularity Measures of Subdivision Vertex‐Edge Join of Graphs

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
The study of graphs and networks accomplished by topological measures plays an applicable task to obtain their hidden topologies. This procedure has been greatly used in cheminformatics, bioinformatics, and biomedicine, where estimations based on graph invariants have been made available for effectively communicating with the different challenging ...

Mendelssohns' cosmopolitan map and Solstad’s rural Telemark

open access: yesOrbis Litterarum, Volume 75, Issue 4, Page 197-212, August 2020., 2020
Abstract This article makes a comparative analysis of La carte des Mendelssohn (2015), by the Belgian novelist Diane Meur, and Det uoppløselige episke element i Telemark i perioden 1591–1896 (2013), by the Norwegian novelist Dag Solstad. It examines how these two original literary projects explore different modalities of the relationship between ...

Test of Association in the Presence of Complex Environment

open access: yesComplexity, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
A new test of independence under neutrosophic statistics for testing the association between two criteria of classification is presented in this paper. The necessary contingency tables for the neutrosophic population and the neutrosophic sample are presented. The test statistic of the proposed test is introduced under neutrosophic statistics.

Innovation and Team Spirit: The Magic of Science Competitions Seen through the Lens of the Compound Challenge

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 136, Issue 13, March 22, 2024.
What makes a chemistry‐based innovation challenge successful and how can activities for scientific outreach be improved? In this Viewpoint we discuss the Compound Challenge—a global retrosynthesis competition that has resonated within the scientific community. Through examining the feedback of the participants, we gain valuable insight and lessons into

Altered Ventilation in Rats With Established Severe Monocrotaline‐Induced Pulmonary Hypertension: The Role of the Dorsal Hypothalamus

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 15, Issue 5, October 2025.
In PH patients, exertional dyspnea may participate in stressful conditions, particularly in more advanced stages. High stress induces the activation of a DMH/PeF‐KF/PB‐CVRG neurocircuitry, at the origin of a hyperventilation which may reinforce dyspnea and stress.

Review of phlegmacioid Cortinariaceae (Agaricales) in New Zealand

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Botany, Volume 63, Issue 1, Page 78-107, March 2025.
ABSTRACT We review the diversity of phlegmacioid (Cortinariaceae) taxa in New Zealand as well as in other parts of the Southern Hemisphere. Using a 4‐locus molecular phylogeny, it is shown that these taxa are represented in six of the ten recently recognised genera of Cortinariaceae.

On‐the‐Fly Calculation of Absorbed and Equivalent Atmospheric Radiation Dose in A Water Phantom with the Atmospheric Radiation Interaction Simulator (AtRIS)

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 124, Issue 12, Page 9774-9790, December 2019., 2019
Abstract Computation of the ionization and radiation dose in arbitrary (exo‐) planetary atmospheres due to energetic particles is recently becoming more important due to several reasons that are either correlated with the detection of trace gases for life on exoplanets or with computing dose rates at arbitrary altitudes in the Earth atmosphere.

The Hydrogen Evolution Activity of BaZrS3, BaTiS3, and BaVS3 Chalcogenide Perovskites

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 25, Issue 13, July 2, 2024.
This work examines the HER activity of BaZrS3, BaTiS3, and BaVS3 chalcogenide perovskites by constructed potential energy surfaces for hydrogen atom adsorption and using the computational hydrogen electrode. Both computations and linear sweep voltammetry experiments conclude that BaVS3 is the most active HER electrocatalyst.

Directional Multifractal Analysis in the Lp Setting

open access: yesJournal of Function Spaces, Volume 2019, Issue 1, 2019., 2019
The classical Hölder regularity is restricted to locally bounded functions and takes only positive values. The local Lp regularity covers unbounded functions and negative values. Nevertheless, it has the same apparent regularity in all directions. In the present work, we study a recent notion of directional local Lp regularity introduced by Jaffard. We
