Coupling of blocking and melting in cobalt ferrofluids

Journal of Applied Physics, 2010
Zero-field-cooling and field-cooling (FC) measurements were performed on ferrofluids of cobalt magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) in various organic solvent. Two peaks, one broad peak corresponding to the blocking transition (TB), and one sharp peak corresponding to the melting of the solvent (TM), were observed.

Morphologies of block copolymer melts

Current Opinion in Solid State and Materials Science, 2004
Morphology formation by block copolymers in the melt is reviewed, considering both theoretical and experimental aspects. Comprehensive tables provide information on morphology identification for many block copolymer systems. A particular focus is on recent structural studies on ABC triblocks and rod–coil copolymers.

Melt-Processable Block Copolyimides

MRS Proceedings, 1996
ABSTRACTWe present here our probing research with segmented block copolyimdes derived on the basis of certain design principles to optimize performance and processability. We have shown that incorporation of relatively short blocks of rigid mesogenic segments along the backbone of flexible polyimide chains produce thermoprocessable polymeric systems ...

Dynamics of phase separation in block copolymer melts

Physical Review A, 1989

Fluctuation effects in block copolymer melts

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2003
Fluctuation effects in symmetric diblock copolymer melts are quantitatively examined with the first direct comparison between Monte Carlo simulations and mean-field theory where both are performed on the same identical model. The simulations provide the most conclusive evidence to date that fluctuations transform the continuous mean-field order ...

Microphase separation in the melts of diblock copolymers with amphiphilic blocks

Soft Matter, 2021
Amphiphilic polymer blocks can envelop the domains of major non-amphiphilic blocks in diblock copolymer melts: a theoretical study.

Transitions to periodic structures in block copolymer melts

Physical Review Letters, 1991
We study transitions to periodic structures in diblock copolymer melts including self-consistently the concentration Ructuations, and expanding the density in multiple harmonics. The fluctuations induce a shift in the maximum scattering wave vector in the isotropic state which suggests that the chains stretch near the transition.

Diffusion in microstructured block copolymer melts

Macromolecular Symposia, 1997
AbstractForced Rayleigh scattering has been employed to measure tracer and self‐diffusion in block copolymer melts, for both entangled and unentangled systems, and in both the ordered and disordered states. It is shown that entanglements are particularly effective in retarding the motion of copolymers parallel to the interface between microdomains. The

Two-Dimensional Melting Transition Observed in a Block Copolymer

Physical Review Letters, 2005
We report the observation of two-dimensional melting in a monolayer film of a sphere-forming diblock copolymer. By annealing in a well-controlled temperature gradient we obtain a complete record of the transition from a low-temperature hexatic phase to a high-temperature liquid in a single experiment.

A density functional theory of chiral block copolymer melts

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2013
A density functional theory is developed for the diblock copolymer melt, where one block contains the segment orientation dependent chiral interaction. In addition to the standard (scalar) pair interaction between the two types of monomers, the chiral block has the additional pairwise interaction, which is linear in the tangent vectors of the segments.
