Unveiling Unidirectional Transport within Janus Membranes

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 6, Issue 4, April 2025.
GA: A three‐stage model is proposed to describe unidirectional transport through Janus membranes, encompassing liquid intrusion, capillary wetting, and liquid transport. The mechanisms of liquid intrusion include direct‐contact‐driven intrusion in bilayer structures and surface‐energy‐driven intrusion in gradient structures.

TRAUMATIC PERFORATIONS OF THE MEMBRANA TYMPANI. [PDF]

open access: yesJAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1900
In 1500 consecutive cases taken from the out-patient record books of the Pennsylvania Hospital there were eleven in which the membrana tympani was ruptured by traumatism. The cases were as follows: Case 1. —An Irishman, aged 46 years, a longshoreman, was struck on the head by a hammer weighing 3 pounds, which had fallen forty feet.

Hollow Fiber–Supported ZIF‐8@GO Reinforced Sol–Gel for Preconcentration of Paraquat Before Determination by UV‐Vis Spectrophotometry

open access: yesJournal of Analytical Methods in Chemistry, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
A novel, sensitive, and efficient method was developed for the determination of paraquat in soil samples, centered on solid‐phase microextraction using hollow fiber–supported ZIF‐8@GO reinforced sol–gel combined with UV‐Vis spectrophotometry at 257 nm. Silica‐based ZIF‐8@GO was synthesized through sol–gel technology by reacting tetraethyl orthosilicate

MEMBRANA CELULAR

open access: yes

Vascular Development of Fetal and Postnatal Neocortex of the Pig, the European Wild Boar Sus scrofa

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Neurology, Volume 532, Issue 12, December 2024.
Species silhouettes are adapted from Wahle et al., 2022. ABSTRACT The development of the brain's vascular system is a predominantly prenatal process in mammalian species and is required for neurogenesis and further brain development. Our recent work on fetal pig has revealed that many neurodevelopmental processes start well before birth and proceed ...

Morphologic Examination of Ossicula Auditus in Different Ruminants

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 10, Issue 6, November 2024.
Differences in the morphology of the ossicula auditus of different species of the same family were found. The three processus on the malleus were found to be different in location and development between the species (gazelle—hair goat—Awassi sheep). The absence of processus lenticularis in two gazelles is a remarkable finding.
