High‐Efficiency Quantum Defect Generation in Carbon Nanotubes via Oxygen‐Free Photochemistry
We show that oxygen plays an important role in quantum defect formation in carbon nanotubes and identify reaction conditions to create a range of different quantum defects for photonics and biosensing. ABSTRACT Single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) offer potential for a wide range of applications from optoelectronic devices to biomedical diagnostics.

A spatial location of atomic layer deposition (ALD)‐derived ZrO2 coatings is demonstrated to be a critical design parameter for stabilizing graphite cathodes in DIBs. Direct particle‐level ALD (PALD) screening of representative metal oxides identified ZrO2 as the coating that provides the most favorable balance of high‐rate capability and interfacial ...

Membranes: Improving batch membrane filtration
Filtration + Separation, 2013Batch filtration offers a vital technique within the selection of membrane filtration processes available. Applications can be found in the laboratory, but also in industrial practice where small quantities of liquid concentrates are required, for example in the life sciences. Abstract Membrane systems provide a physical barrier to various contaminants in water and therefore are attractive for different applications. Depending on the type of the membrane and its pore size, membranes might remove microbial contaminants, organic chemicals, or salts.
