Techniques for the Analysis of Membrane Glycoproteins

1978
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the current approaches for the identification, solubilization, fractionation, and chemical analysis of plasma membrane glycoproteins. The material reviewed in the chapter is confined to the studies of glycoproteins emanating from mammalian and avian cells, tumors, and tissues. The term “surface label” connotes

Glycoproteins of the Platelet Plasma Membrane

1985
The glycoproteins of the platelet plasma membrane, in common with those of the plasma membranes of other cells, have an important role in the interaction of platelets with their environment and in particular in the platelet’s function of hemostasis.

Surface Membrane Glycoproteins of Flagellates

2003
The first information on surface glycoproteins came from studies of animal cell surface coats. It came from histochemistry and electron microscopy (EM). Both effective EM resolution (~20A) and selective ferritin staining for the cell surface coat promoted studies on the topic (Luft, 1976).
