MEMBRANE TRANSPORT CARRIERS

Annual Review of Plant Physiology and Plant Molecular Biology, 1996
▪ Abstract  Plant and fungal membrane proteins catalyzing the transmembrane translocation of small molecules without directly using ATP or acting as channels are discussed in this review. Facilitators, ion-cotransporters, and exchange translocators mainly for sugars, amino acids, and ions that have been cloned and characterized from Saccharomyces ...

Plant membrane transport

Current Biology, 1992
Recent developments in plant membrane transport, particularly concerning the vacuolar and plasma membranes, have increased our understanding of molecular aspects of primary pumps, carrier systems and ion channels.

Synthetic membrane transporters

Current Opinion in Chemical Biology, 2002
An increasing number of synthetic compounds have been shown to facilitate ion and polar molecule transport across bilayer membranes. Most notably, recent advances in anion transport have yielded synthetic chloride channels and phospholipid translocases.

Modeling Membrane Transport

1996
Many substrates cross cell membranes by processes other than passive diffusion. When the transport is carrier-mediated, e.g., facilitated diffusion, active transport, and exchange diffusion, the carrier modifies the conductance of the membrane and may either increase or decrease the flux of the substrate across the membrane.

Membrane Transport Proteins

1974
The relative constancy of the internal environment of the cell is maintained by a variety of transport systems which are located within the membrane. These transport systems serve to regulate the entrance and exit of various solutes concerned with the metabolic activity of the cell.

Membrane Transport

2000
Abstract Membrane Transport is targeted towards researchers with an interest in the mechanism of solute transport across biological membranes. Its scope is broad, ranging from the techniques required to study transport itself, through the expression, purification and reconstitution of transporters, to techniques for investigation of ...
