Memetic algorithms and memetic computing optimization: A literature review
Swarm and Evolutionary Computation, 2012Abstract Memetic computing is a subject in computer science which considers complex structures such as the combination of simple agents and memes, whose evolutionary interactions lead to intelligent complexes capable of problem-solving. The founding cornerstone of this subject has been the concept of memetic algorithms, that is a class of ...

On user-centric memetic algorithms
Soft Computing, 2012Memetic algorithms (MAs) constitute a metaheuristic optimization paradigm [usually based on the synergistic combination of an evolutionary algorithm (EA) and trajectory-based optimization techniques] that systematically exploits the knowledge about the problem being solved and that has shown its efficacy to solve many combinatorial optimization ...

A Memetic Algorithm for Symbolic Regression
2019 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC), 2019This research aims to address the practical difficulties of computational heuristics for symbolic regression, which models data with algebraic expressions. In particular we are motivated by cases in which the target unknown function may be best represented as the ratio of functions.

A memetic algorithm for program verification
2011 UKSim 5th European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation, 2011We present a memetic algorithm for program safety properties verification. This problem is expressed by means of Reach ability of some erroneous location L in the program. We use a new method for program modeling: A Separation Modeling Approach: ASMA, in which programs are represented by two components: Data Model DM, and Control Model CM.

A memetic algorithm for multiobjective problems
Proceedings of the 15th annual conference companion on Genetic and evolutionary computation, 2013In this article, we present a method combining a genetic approach with a local search for multiobjective problems. The performance of the proposed algorithm is illustrated by experimental results based on a real problem with three objectives. The problem is issued from electric car-sharing service with a car manufacturer partner.

Special Issue on Memetic Algorithms
IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, Part B (Cybernetics), 2007The ten papers in this special section are devoted to memetic algorithms. The papers are loosely grouped into two categories: memetic algorithm methodologies and domain-specific memetic algorithms. Briefly summarizes the articles included in this section.

A memetic algorithm for course timetabling
Proceedings of the 13th annual conference on Genetic and evolutionary computation, 2011Course timetabling consists in scheduling a sequence of lectures while satisfying various constraints. In this paper, we develop and study the performance of a memetic algorithm, designed to solve a variant of the course timetabling problem. Our aim here is twofold: to develop a competitive algorithm, and to investigate, more generally, the ...

Handbook of Memetic Algorithms
2012Memetic Algorithms (MAs) are computational intelligence structures combining multiple and various operators in order to address optimization problems. The combination and interaction amongst operators evolves and promotes the diffusion of the most successful units and generates an algorithmic behavior which can handle complex objective functions and ...
