Memory is an essay that has been developed on the occasion of the X Forum ProArch, National Scientific Society of Architectural Design teachers, SSD ICAR 14-15-16, held in Genoa, on 16-17-18 November 2023. The way in which memory, a faculty linked to elapsed time, to the past, relates to and contributes to architectural design, that is instead entirely

A Search for Extended Radio Sources in 1.3 sr of the VLA Sky Survey (VLASS) [PDF]
We report preliminary results of a visual inspection of ~4300 deg$^2$ covered by 4414 images of the 3-GHz VLA Sky Survey (VLASS, epoch 1.1) in search of extended radio structures. Over 7600 positions were registered, and for a subset of 270 of the most promising candidates their host objects were searched in optical and infrared surveys, as well as in ...

A survey on extensions of Riemannian manifolds and Bartnik mass estimates [PDF]
Mantoulidis and Schoen developed a novel technique to handcraft asymptotically flat extensions of Riemannian manifolds $(\Sigma \cong \mathbb{S}^2,g)$, with $g$ satisfying $\lambda_1 = \lambda_1(-\Delta_g + K(g))>0$, where $\lambda_1$ is the first eigenvalue of the operator $-\Delta_g+K(g)$ and $K(g)$ is the Gaussian curvature of $g$, with control on ...

Statistics of Hotspots in Radio Galaxies [PDF]
Based on images from the FIRST survey of the radio sky at 1.4 GHz, the positions of $\sim$5200 hotspots in $\sim$2870 radio galaxies and quasars were compiled, and linear sizes and radio luminosities were derived from the hosts redshifts. For a subsample of $\sim$2100 radio sources with exactly one hotspot in each of the two opposite lobes, their ...

Radio-Optical Alignment of Radio Galaxies [PDF]
Images from recent radio surveys were used to determine the radio position angles for over 2000 extended radio galaxies with host galaxies brighter than m$_{r}\sim$18 mag. For 1509 of these their optical axis ratios were obtained, and for a subset of 857 also their major axis position angle.

New Giant Radio Galaxies in the SDSS-JVLA Stripe82 and LoTSS-PDR Survey [PDF]
Extragalactic radio sources with projected linear size larger than one Megaparsec 1 Mpc = 3.09e22 m = 3.3e6 light years) are called Giant Radio Galaxies (GRGs) or quasars (GRQs). Over the past few years our search for such objects by visual inspection of large-scale radio surveys like the NRAO VLA Sky Survey (NVSS) and Faint Images of the Radio Sky at ...
