Hopfield Neural Networks for Online Constrained Parameter Estimation With Time‐Varying Dynamics and Disturbances

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This paper proposes two projector‐based Hopfield neural network (HNN) estimators for online, constrained parameter estimation under time‐varying data, additive disturbances, and slowly drifting physical parameters. The first is a constraint‐aware HNN that enforces linear equalities and inequalities (via slack neurons) and continuously tracks the ...

The Interpretive Turn: History, Memory, and Storage in Qualitative Research

open access: yesForum: Qualitative Social Research, 2005
This article reviews the field of qualitative inquiry, identifying three conceptual breaks: the "orthodox consensus" of positivism which conceives the social world as a collection of external facts and attempts to eliminate bias and subjectivity; post ...

Proyecciones de memoria del largo 1917: ecos simbólicos en el Partido Comunista de España y el Partido Comunista Italiano [PDF]

open access: yesDiacronie. Studi di Storia Contemporanea, 2017
The article analyzes several types of memory on 1917 and the Soviet revolution, focusing on some memory’s strategies of the Communist Party of Spain and the Italian Communist Party. It briefly attends four different historical junctures (1937, 1949, 1956

Bistable Mechanisms 3D Printing for Mechanically Programmable Vibration Control

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a 3D‐printed bistable mechanism integrated into tuned mass dampers (TMDs) for mechanically adaptive passive vibration suppression. Through optimized geometry, the bistable design provides adaptable vibration reduction across a broad range of scenarios, achieving effective vibration mitigation without complex controls or external ...

Adaptable Tile‐Based Pneumatic Origami through Structurally Coupled Localized Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents tile‐based pneumatic origami structures with rigid tiles and flexible fabric creases, achieving adaptable properties including morphing shape, selective multistability, and tunable stiffness. Independently pressurized folding bladders at each crease enable structurally coupled localized actuation of origami structures.

How chronotype, sleep-wake cycle, subjective time experience influence retrospective, and prospective memory functioning

open access: yesFrontiers in Cognition
BackgroundThe sleep-wake cycle and chronotype are key contributors to memory consolidation. Emerging evidence also highlights their role in shaping the subjective experience of time, which, in turn, can influence cognitive performance, particularly ...

The Crimean War of 1853-1856 in the light of the "memorial turn": reflecting on the book by the English historian Orlando Figes "Crimea. The Last Crusade"

open access: yesИсторический журнал: научные исследования, 2022
The article reviews O. Figes' monograph "Crimea, The Last Crusade", dedicated to the Crimean War of 1853-56, published in Russia in 2021. The work of the English historian is considered primarily in the light of approaches to the study of historical memory developed in modern historical science.

Hurricane Risk, Happiness and Life Satisfaction. Some Empirical Evidence on the Indirect Effects of Natural Disasters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
As a consequence of climate change, certain types of natural disasters become either more likely or more severe. While disasters might have numerous direct (typically negative) e ects, the e ect of an increase of natural disaster risk on individual well ...

Hybrid Auxetic Architectures: Integrating Curvature‐Driven Design for Enhanced Mechanical Tunability and Structural Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Curvature‐tuned auxetic lattices are designed, fabricated, and mechanically characterized to reveal how geometric curvature governs stretchability, stress redistribution, and Poisson's ratio evolution. Photoelastic experiments visualize stress pathways, while hyperelastic simulations quantify deformation mechanics.
