Foreign policy and physical sites of memory: competing foreign policies at the Jasenovac memorial site

International Politics, 2019
This article contributes to the growing scholarship on the relationship between political memory and foreign policy by analyzing how physical sites of traumatic memory serve as locations of foreign policy construction. Specifically, I explore how physical sites (such as concentration camps, killing sites, or memorials) serve to construct foreign policy

Historical Memory and Foreign Policy

2022
This book explores the uses of the past in foreign policy-making. It outlines why and how political leaders refer to historical events in contemporary foreign policy discourses; the goals they hope to achieve; and the sometimes unintended foreign policy consequences of their (ab)use of historical memory.

Replacement Policies for Heterogeneous Memories

Proceedings of the Second International Symposium on Memory Systems, 2016
As non-volatile memory is introduced alongside traditional memory, new mechanisms for managing memory are becoming necessary. In this paper, we propose the two variable-space heterogeneous VMIN (H-VMIN) and heterogeneous WS (H-WS) policies for flat DRAM-PCM heterogeneous architectures, which derive from the earlier VMIN and WS policies.

The Making of Memory Policies

2020
The idea that it is possible to use memory and “lessons from the past” to arm today’s citizens against future violence is a welcome band-aid for our insecurities; it protects the individual who subscribes to it from doubts they may have about their own moral convictions.

Memory Policies in Action

2020
The third chapter of the book will focus on the study of these very ordinary social facts: memory policies as they are implemented. There is a great temptation to try and measure the effectiveness of memory policy. However, evaluating the impact of public policy on hearts and minds is difficult, even impossible. Hopefully, the social sciences enable us

Memory Policy and Lessons of “Peacing”

Sociopolitical Sciences, 2021
Currently there is a revaluation and falsification of historical events, including the causes of World War II. The lesson from the war should be a refusal of a pacification policy, i.e. make concessions to dictatorial regimes in order to support the peace.

Enforcing memory policy specifications in reconfigurable hardware

Computers & Security, 2008
While general-purpose processor based systems are built to enforce memory protection to prevent the unintended sharing of data between processes, current systems built around reconfigurable hardware typically offer no such protection. Several reconfigurable cores are often integrated onto a single chip where they share external resources such as memory.

Gated Memory Policy: In-Context Memorization and Adaptation

Robotic manipulation tasks exhibit varying memory requirements, ranging from Markovian tasks that require no memory to non-Markovian tasks that demand in-context memorization of historical information within a single trial or in-context adaptation based on the outcomes of multiple past trials.
