RAPID GROWTH RESULTS IN INCREASED SUSCEPTIBILITY TO PREDATION IN MENIDIA MENIDIA
Evolution; International Journal of Organic Evolution, 2003Several recent studies have demonstrated that rapid growth early in life leads to decreased physiological performance. Nearly all involved experiments over short time periods (

Ten polymorphic microsatellite loci for the Atlantic Silverside, Menidia menidia
Conservation Genetics Resources, 2011Ten polymorphic microsatellite loci were isolated from the Atlantic Silverside (Menidia menidia) in order to test hypotheses regarding the role of adaptive phenotypic variation in structuring estuarine populations along coastal North America. Loci were amplified in three multiplex panels requiring a total of four individual PCRs.

Laboratory spawning and rearing of a marine fish, the silverside Menidia menidia menidia
Marine Biology, 1976Adult silversides, Menidia menidia menidia (Linnaeus), were collected in early March, 1974 and maintained in 3 recirculating seawater tanks in the laboratory. Respective groups were fed Moore-Clark Fry Fine at 3, 7 and 10% of their body weight per day.

A comprehensive non-redundant reference transcriptome for the Atlantic silverside Menidia menidia
Marine Genomics, 2020The Atlantic silverside (Menidia menidia) has been the focus of extensive research efforts in ecology, evolutionary biology, and physiology over the past three decades, but lack of genomic resources has so far hindered examination of the molecular basis underlying the remarkable patterns of phenotypic variation described in this species.

The potential use of Atlantic silverside (Menidia menidia) for monitoring estuarine pollution
Journal of Environmental Monitoring, 2011Monitoring chronic impacts of nearshore pollution on fish in Atlantic marine systems is challenging due to the mobility and seasonal nature of most habitat use. We evaluated Atlantic silverside (Menidia menidia) as a potential indicator of pollution across a gradient of contaminated sites in the Saint John River Estuary, New Brunswick, Canada.

Critical Swimming Capacity of the Atlantic Silverside, Menidia menidia L
Estuaries, 1991Critical swimming speed was determined for the Atlantic silverside (Menidia menidia) at several time and velocity increments. Fish were tested at time increments (Δt) of 2, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, and 60 minutes at a velocity increment (ΔV) of 0.5 body lengths s−1 (BL s−1). Tail beat frequency increased linearly with velocity.
