Abstract Ageing‐related sensory deteriorations are significantly associated with poor balance control among older individuals, resulting in a higher risk of falling in a dark environment. In particular, the proprioceptive system plays a critical role in maintaining balance.

Utility of area curve ratio electrocochleography in early Meniere disease.
BACKGROUND Electrocochleography (ECochG) is useful in supporting the diagnosis of Meniere disease (MD). Possible MD (early disease as defined by the 1995 American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Committee on Hearing and Equilibrium) is a ...

Real‐World Complexity of Prescribing Cascades
ABSTRACT Prescribing cascades occur when an adverse drug reaction (ADR) to one medication is treated with additional medication. Most literature focusses on this simplistic singular concept of one medication followed by another. However, ADRs in clinical practice may appear less straightforward, making prescribing cascades difficult to identify and ...

Multiresolution Approximation of Polygonal Curves in Linear Complexity [PDF]
We propose a new algorithm to the problem of polygonal curve approximation based on a multiresolution approach. This algorithm is suboptimal but still maintains some optimality between successive levels of resolution using dynamic programming. We show theoretically and experimentally that this algorithm has a linear complexity in time and space.

This study integratively measured the independent components of the predictive coding system including priors, confidence, prediction errors (PEs) and perceptual inference. The results showed that subjects with higher confidence in priors are more likely to shape perception towards prior belief and are more sensitive to context‐driven PEs.

ABSTRACT Porphyria cutanea tarda (PCT) is caused by inherited or acquired defects of uroporphyrinogen decarboxylase (UROD) in the heme biosynthetic pathway. Altered iron homeostasis via hemochromatosis gene (HFE) mutations is one of many susceptibility factors associated with the sporadic form of PCT.
