Unicompartmental knee prostheses:in vitrowear assessment of the menisci tibial insert after two different fixation methods

Physics in Medicine and Biology, 2008
Knee osteoarthritis is a complex clinical scenario where many biological and mechanical factors influence the severity of articular degenerative changes. Minimally invasive knee prosthetic surgery, with only a compartment replacement (unicompartmental knee replacement), might be a good compromise between osteotomy and total knee prosthesis.

Bilateral Hypoplasia of Both Medial and Lateral Menisci Partially Fused With the Cartilage Surface of the Tibial Plateau

Orthopedics, 2018
Hypoplastic meniscus is an extremely rare abnormality. The authors present the first case of meniscal hypoplasia with a partial fusion of meniscus and tibial cartilage. A 22-year-old man underwent surgery for a chronic patellar dislocation.

The effect of tibial lengthening using the Ilizarov method on the cartilage and the menisci of the knee joint

Journal of Orthopaedic Research, 2001
AbstractIn order to investigate possible acute damage to the knee joint cartilage and the menisci during tibial lengthening, sixteen young beagle dogs underwent 30% lengthening of the right tibia of 2.5 cm by callus distraction at a distraction rate of twice 0.5 mm per day.

An automated technique to estimate knee cartilage thickness for femoral, tibial, patellar cartilages and menisci

ISMRM Annual Meeting
Motivation: Accurate estimation of knee cartilage thickness is crucial for assessing cartilage health and tracking disease progression, such as in osteoarthritis. Goal(s): To propose a generic, non-DL algorithm that estimates the thickness of three cartilage compartments —femur, tibia, patella —and the meniscus, allowing visualization in 2D/3D ...

Should the presence of menisci be considered when measuring the posterior tibial slope in total knee arthroplasty ?

2012
Objectives: In planning a total knee arthroplasty, the sagittal tibial slope is commonly measured on a lateral view radiograph. Such a measurement does not include cartilage and menisci, although these structures have a relevant role in loading distribution on the tibial plateau.
