Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1981
The rationale and technique for surgical repair of the meniscus of the knee are presented with a report of the results in ten cases. Contraindications to meniscus reapir include peripheral vascular disease, metabolic disorders disrupting collagen synthesis, renal disease, and "collagen-vascular" disorders.

Treatment of Meniscus Degeneration and Meniscus Cysts
2017The menisci have indispensable functions for the knee joint. Loss of the meniscus leads to irreversible degeneration via abnormal loading of articular cartilage. Meniscal degeneration is responsible for loss of critical functions of the menisci and can create a situation similar to meniscus loss.

Arthroscopic Meniscus Repair: Meniscus Arrow
2001The Meniscus Arrow (Bionx Implants, Inc., Blue Bell, PA) provides a new solution for the surgical resolution to the problem of meniscal repairs. The Meniscus Arrow is a T-shaped fastener that provides an all-inside technique for repair of longitudinal meniscal tears in the vascular zone through standard arthroscopic portals.

[Meniscus resection versus reattachment of the meniscus].
Der Orthopade, 1994Stable partial-thickness tears, longitudinal tears of less than 5 mm length and short (5 mm or less) radial tears can sometimes be left alone. Tears known to be definitely repairable are traumatic longitudinal tears within the vascular zone of the meniscus with minimal damage to the meniscus body fragment.
