Rate of population increase of poultry shaft louse, Menopon gallinae in vivo condition. [PDF]
Attempts were made to determine the rate of expansion of Menopon gallinae by releasing 10 healthier looking adult lice on each of the twelve similar aged fowls and delousing two fowls fortnightly (up to 90 days). The experiments were performed in the months of summer as well as in the months of winter.

A note on the haematophagous nature of poultry shaft louse, Menopon gallinae (Amblycera: Phthiraptera). [PDF]
An analysis of the crop contents of the poultry shaft louse, Menopon gallina indicates that 67 % of adult males and 72 % of the adult females examined carried red content compatible to host blood, along with feather barbules. The percentage of nymphal instars carrying red content in the crop was quite low.

Antennal sensilla of head of poultry shaft louse, Menopon gallinae (Phthiraptera, Insecta, Menoponidae, Amblycera) [PDF]
Phthirapteran ectoparasites (lice) are very small arthropodan creature which spend their life on different mammalian and avian host body. Many morphological features of these tiny creatures are not visible under simple microscopic study and hence ...

Chromosome-level genome of the poultry shaft louse Menopon gallinae provides insight into the host-switching and adaptive evolution of parasitic lice. [PDF]
Abstract Background Lice (Psocodea: Phthiraptera) are one important group of parasites that infects birds and mammals. It is believed that the ancestor of parasitic lice originated on the ancient avian host, and ancient mammals acquired these parasites via host-switching from birds.

Efficacy of citronella and ginger essential oil combinations against chicken lice (<i>Menopon gallinae</i>) and mites (<i>Ornithonyssus bursa</i>): Chemical characterization, contact toxicity, and <i>in vivo</i> validation. [PDF]
Background and Aim: Ectoparasites, such as Menopon gallinae (chicken lice) and Ornithonyssus bursa (chicken mites), have a significant impact on poultry health and productivity, resulting in substantial economic losses and potential zoonotic risks. Conventional synthetic pesticides, though effective, pose health and environmental concerns. Hence, plant-
