The ovary is a paired organ, each of which measure about 3 × 2 × 1 cm in women of reproductive age. The average weight of the ovary is 7–14 g. All but the hilus is located within the peritoneal cavity. Each ovary is joined to the uterus by the ovarian ligament and receives its vascular supply through the infundibulopelvic ligament.
