Iron Deficiency in Infancy and Its Impact on Motor and Mental Development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Iron plays a large role in nerve myelination, dopamine neurotransmission, and neuronal metabolism. The purpose of this literary review was to investigate the connection between iron deficiency and motor and cognitive development.

4‐Hydroxybenzyl Alcohol Mitigates Hyperlipidemia‐Associated Depression by Inhibiting Neuroinflammation via the NKIRAS2/NF‐κB Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
4‐HBA upregulates NKIRAS2 levels, inhibiting the activation of the NF‐κB pathway and subsequently reducing the levels of neuroinflammatory markers. This modulation helps restore normal mood and behavior in hyperlipidemic conditions, providing a potential therapeutic strategy for managing hyperlipidemia‐associated depression.

Targeted H2S Delivery System Attenuates Blood‐Spinal Cord Barrier Disruption after Spinal Cord Injury by Reshaping the Ferritinophagy Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The αvβ3‐mediated SPRC@MPDA‐RGD targets broken endothelial cells and controllably releases SPRC. CSE is then activated to produce endogenous H2S, which inhibits ferritinophagy. In brief, H2S inhibits autophagy by activating the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway, thereby suppressing the ferroptosis process mediated by NCOA4, and ultimately promoting the ...

A Case of Perineurioma Recurring in the Mandible

open access: yesJournal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
Perineuriomas (PNs) are soft tissue tumors originating from the perineurium. We report the case of a 51-year-old man who presented with a right mandibular mass.

Mental nerve paresthesia secondary to initiation of endodontic therapy: a case report

open access: yesRestorative Dentistry & Endodontics, 2014
Whenever endodontic therapy is performed on mandibular posterior teeth, damage to the inferior alveolar nerve or any of its branches is possible. Acute periapical infection in mandibular posterior teeth may also sometimes disturb the normal functioning ...

Neuronal Cholesterol Deficiency Mediated by Astrocytic SREBP2 Downregulation Leads to Postoperative Cognitive Dysfunction Through Impairment of Hippocampal Synaptic Plasticity and Excitatory Synaptic Transmission

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The results showed that the reduction of plasma 24‐hydroxycholesterol (24‐OHC) was related to the cognitive decline in elderly surgical patients. Neuroinflammation induced by anesthesia and surgery significantly downregulated SREBP2 in hippocampal reactive astrocytes, resulting in reduced cholesterol synthesis.

The gulf between behavioural psychology and fundamental physiology: a systematic attempt to bridge the gap [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Direct experimentation in much of this area is very difficult or impossible. For such circumstances, it is argued that much can be achieved by a rigorous quantitative programme of interdisciplinary theorizing based on available data.

Dysregulation of Oral Microbial Eicosapentaenoic Acid Induced by Chronic Restraint Stress Exacerbates Periodontitis via M1 Macrophage Polarization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The intricate interplay between chronic psychological stress and periodontitis, mediated by oral microbiota and macrophage polarization, remains largely enigmatic. Here, we demonstrate that chronic restraint stress (CRS) exacerbates periodontitis by inducing oral microbial dysbiosis and a consequential shift in host metabolism.
