Computational mental simulation: A review
Computer Animation and Virtual Worlds, 2016AbstractThis paper is dedicated to the study of existing approaches that explicitly use mental simulation. Current implementations of the mental simulation paradigm, taken together, computationally address many aspects suggested by cognitive science research. Agents are able to find solutions to nontrivial scenarios in virtual or physical environments.

TEMPORAL ACCURACY OF MENTALLY SIMULATED TRANSPORT MOVEMENTS
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 2002Several studies have indicated a clear correspondence in the durations of active versus mentally simulated actions. The present study examined whether this would also be found when a new and unfamiliar task (the pedalo) was given to 15 sports students aged 21 to 27 years, and the range of mental simulation was extended to cover two different ...

Mental Simulation, Attention and Creativity
2009We extend an attention-and brain-based based architecture for mental simulation to allow for subliminal or creative thinking as part of a thinking sequence. In particular a mechanism for switching between attended and subliminal thinking is proposed. A simulation of this architecture is then presented, specifically for the task of `Unusual uses of a ...

La simulation de maladie mentale. La simulation comme maladie mentale
2015It is widely accepted that a person with poor judgment due to mental illness does not bear criminal liability for his acts. However, in this context, the courts are faced with criminals imitating madness in order to escape punishment. It is indeed tempting for the perpetrators of crimes and misdemeanours to cover up their criminal offenses by feigning ...

Mental Imagery: Rehabilitation through simulation
2014Mental Imagery can be defined both as a reproduction of cognitive contents of the mind not actually present to sensorial perception, and as the re-elaboration and interpretation of the original perceived data. Motor and athletic rehabilitation and recovery after injuries or traumas, especially in sports, but more generally in physiotherapeutic practice,

Mental Simulation and Episodic Memory
2014This brief chapter deals with two important, coupled cognitive components of CogPrime: the component concerned with creating internal simulations of situations and episodes in the external physical world, and the one concerned with storing and retrieving memories of situations and episodes.

Mentale Simulation und radikale Interpretation
Grazer Philosophische Studien, 2006The notion of empathy has more recently seen a considerable revival—notably (first) in connection with Quine's empathy model of radical interpretation, in contrast to which Davidson has developed his triangulation model, and (secondly) in the context of the debate between simulation theory vs. theory theory about propositional attitude ascription.

Flight Simulation through Mental Practice
1972Abstract : The experiment demonstrates that the use of mental practice may be an effective adjunct to any training program which normally depends completely on costly actual practice of the skill being learned. Twenty-three Ss were randomly placed in one of two groups.

[Mental simulation in frontotemporal dementia].
Vertex (Buenos Aires, Argentina), 2018There is a common network for perception and execution of actions necessary for the acquisition of Theory of Mind, and the mirror neuron system could be the neural substrate. To study the presence of apraxia and their relationship to Theory of Mind in patients with behavioral variant of Frontotemporal Dementia.24 patients were assessed, and the ...
