MEIOTIC AND MITOTIC CHROMOSOME NUMBERS FOR MENTZELIA LEUCOPHYLLA BRANDEGEE (LOASACEAE)
Madroño, 2005ABSTRACT Meiotic and mitotic chromosome numbers for Mentzelia leucophylla Brandegee (Loasaceae) are reported. The numbers of n = 11 and 2n=22 fit with the aneuploid series that exists in other taxa of Mentzelia section Bartonia, but differ from a chromosome number of n = 18 reported in 1973 by Reveal & Styer.

Iridoids from Mentzelia cordifolia
Phytochemistry, 1995Abstract From the aerial parts of Mentzelia cordifolia , 11 known compounds, seven phenolics and four iridoids have been identified. In addition, two new iridoids, i.e. mentzefoliol and glucosylmentzefoliol, have been isolated and characterized. Their structures have been elucidated mainly by means of spectroscopic data.

Iridoid mono- and di-glycosides in Mentzelia
Phytochemistry, 1981Abstract Eight species of Mentzelia (Loasaceae) have been investigated for iridoid glycosides. In addition to the known glucosides deutzioside, decaloside, mongolioside, loganin and sweroside, several novel compounds have been isolated and characterized by chemical and spectroscopic means.

Phylogeny of Mentzelia section Trachyphytum
2009This study explores the systematics and evolutionary ecology of Mentzelia section Trachyphytum. Trachyphytum is a monophyletic group of annual flowering plants with no fewer than 24 species. Nearly two thirds of the species in this group are polyploids, suggesting that polyploidy has had a fundamental role in diversification.

An UnusualC- Skeleton Type Glucoside fromMentzelia incisa
Planta Medica, 1995A new glucoside with unusual acyclic C13-skeleton has been isolated from Mentzelia incisa Urban et Gilg. The structure was assigned by spectroscopic means.

A systematic monograph of Mentzelia section Bartonia (Loasaceae)
2009The diversity of Mentzelia section Bartonia (Loasaceae), a monophyletic group that is widely distributed in arid regions of the American West, has presented considerable taxonomic difficulties, including misapplied names, vague descriptions that circumscribe multiple entities, a poor sense of geographic distributions, undescribed diversity, and ...

A Genetic Approach to the Taxonomy of Mentzelia lindleyi and M. Crocea (Loasaceae)
Brittonia, 1960cussed in this paper, present a problem of this kind. Mentzelia tindleyi and M. crocea are spring flowering annuals with rounded, papillose seeds and linear filaments. These characters place them in Sectioll Trachyphytwm, whereas their large, mucronate petals with some orange pigment at the base distinguish them from other members of this section.
