Regulation of ClC‐K/barttin by endocytosis influences distal convoluted tubule hyperplasia

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 602, Issue 17, Page 4291-4307, 1 September 2024.
Abstract figure legend ClC‐K/barttin channels mediate chloride transport in the kidney and inner ear. Mutating tyrosine 98 to alanine in barttin increases function by an unknown mechanism. In the present study, we performed experiments in oocytes and kidney cells, showing that tyrosine 98 is part of an endocytic motif.

Effects of Air Injection on the Metabolic Activity of Emulsifier-Producing Bacteria from Oil Reservoirs

open access: yesGeofluids, 2020
Oil emulsification is one of the major mechanisms for microbially enhanced oil recovery (MEOR). Although air injection is generally recommended for field trials of MEOR in China, its influence on the microbial community structure in oil reservoirs ...

Effects of astaxanthin on gut microbiota of polo ponies during deconditioning and reconditioning periods

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 12, Issue 11, June 2024.
Abstract To determine the effects of astaxanthin (ASTX) supplementation on the equine gut microbiota during a deconditioning–reconditioning cycle, 12 polo ponies were assigned to a control (CON; n = 6) or supplemented (ASTX; 75 mg ASTX daily orally; n = 6) group. All horses underwent a 16‐week deconditioning period, with no forced exercise, followed by

Microorganisms’ effect on the wettability of carbonate oil-wet surfaces: implications for MEOR, smart water injection and reservoir souring mitigation strategies

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology, 2019
In upstream oil industry, microorganisms arise some opportunities and challenges. They can increase oil recovery through microbial enhanced oil recovery (MEOR) mechanisms, or they can increase production costs and risks through reservoir souring process ...

Allochthonous Groundwater Microorganisms Affect Coastal Seawater Microbial Abundance, Activity and Diversity

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Biogeosciences, Volume 129, Issue 2, February 2024.
Abstract Submarine groundwater discharge (SGD) is a globally important process supplying nutrients and trace elements to the coastal environment, thus playing a pivotal role in sustaining marine primary productivity. Along with nutrients, groundwater also contains allochthonous microbes that are discharged from the terrestrial subsurface into the sea ...

Rhamnolipids produced by indigenous Acinetobacter junii from petroleum reservoir and its potential in enhanced oil recovery

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2016
Biosurfactant producers are crucial for incremental oil production in microbial enhanced oil recovery (MEOR) processes. The isolation of biosurfactant-producing bacteria from oil reservoirs is important because they are considered suitable for the ...
