A Degradable Device for Sustainable Capillary Blood Sampling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
The device features a compostable 3D‐printed storage compartment for liquid blood collection and a degradable, poly(ɛ‐caprolactone)‐coated magnesium microneedle patch hidden within a suction cup. Manual compression deploys the MNs, creating small skin punctures, and the subsequent release of compression generates the negative pressure required for ...

Engineering Thermal Emission with Enhanced Emissivity and Quality Factor Using Bound States in the Continuum and Electromagnetically Induced Absorption

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A metal‐based thermal metasurface supporting bound states in the continuum is demonstrated and experimentally shown to achieve a record‐high quality factor of 202 and high emissivity of 0.82. The design offers thermally stable, narrowband mid‐infrared emission, making it ideal for high‐precision gas sensing applications.

Narrow Linewidth Spontaneous and Lasing Emissions from Open‐Access Microcavity‐Embedded Perovskite Quantum Dots

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Continuous‐wave lasing from a small number of perovskite quantum dots is achieved by coupling their photoluminescence to open‐access curved dielectric cavities. This geometry confines their emission into a single optical mode, sharply narrowing linewidths in both spontaneous and lasing regimes.

A Near Infrared Emission Feature from Visible Fluorescence Tails and its Correlation with Singlet Oxygen

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A persistant NIR emission tail and feature at 923 nm is observed during photochemical singlet oxygen generation using various photosensitizers. While initially considered as singlet oxygen phosphorescence we show that it arises from the NIR‐tail of (visible) photosensitizer emission and the non‐linear increase of detector sensitivity.
