Mercury contamination of sediments at Indonesia Ciujung watershed: contribution of artisanal small-scale gold mining

open access: yesЗаписки Горного института
Artisanal small-scale gold mining is the largest artificial source of mercury pollution and has been a very common problem recently. This study examined the contribution of Hg release due to artisanal small-scale gold mining in contaminating the sediment

The influence of rivers on seabird foraging ecology

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 4, Page 1704-1734, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Rivers act as vital arteries to the world's oceans, delivering fresh water and nutrients that sustain marine ecosystems. Globally, river flow increasingly is being altered by climate change and anthropogenic pressures; yet the significance of rivers to predatory marine species, such as seabirds, and the extent to which river‐related changes ...

Association of Testosterone With Lean Soft Tissue and Handgrip Strength Across Middle‐Aged Men

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Testosterone declines by 0.4%–2% annually after the age of 30 and is potentially linked with muscle mass and strength. This study examined how testosterone levels are associated with handgrip strength (HGS) and appendicular lean soft tissue index (ALSTI) in men aged 40–49 and 50–59 years.

Feasibility Study of a Semi‐Circular Dosimeter for Patient‐Specific Quality Assurance in High‐Dose‐Rate Brachytherapy

open access: yesphysica status solidi (a), Volume 223, Issue 13, 8 July 2026.
A semi‐circular multipixel dosimeter is fabricated and evaluated as a feasibility study toward patient‐specific quality assurance (PSQA) in brachytherapy. It enables measurement of radial dose distribution while maintaining constant distance and angle from the radioactive source.

Crystal Structures and Magnetic Properties of Coordination Polymer Complexes of Metal Ions With Kojic Acid Ligands

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, Volume 652, Issue 10, 7 July 2026.
One‐dimensional coordination polymers of Cu(II) and Co(II) with kojic acid show distinct chain connectivities revealed by X ray crystallography and exhibit extremely weak magnetic interactions, as supported by magnetic measurements and molecular orbital calculations. The crystal structures and magnetic properties of coordination complexes [Cu(C6H5O4)2]

A Review of Black Phosphorus‐Based Materials: From Preparation Strategies to Characterization Techniques

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
The structure, properties, preparation methods, and characterization techniques of BP. As a typical 2D layered material, black phosphorus (BP) demonstrates exceptional promise in various fields, particularly in energy storage for alkali metal‐ion batteries. However, its distinctive structure and properties, together with the compositional complexity of
