Radioactive Isotopes of Mercury

Physical Review, 1941
The radioactive mercury isotopes produced by the bombardment of mercury with neutrons and by the bombardment of gold with deuterons have been studies. Two activities with half-lives of 23 hours and 64 hours, respectively, both decaying by $K$-electron capture, have been assigned to ${\mathrm{Hg}}^{197}$, on the basis of critical absorption measurements

New mercury isotopes

Nuclear Physics A, 1967
Abstract Products of the reactions 170 Yb+ 20 Ne, 147 Sm+ 40 Ar and 169 Tm+ 22 Ne were collected by the helium sweeping technique, and their α-radiation analysed with a semiconductor spectrometer. The following measurements were carried out: energies of α-particles E α , half-lives T 1 2 of the observed emitters and the ...

Mercury isotope fractionation and mercury source analysis in coal

Science of The Total Environment
Understanding the sources of mercury (Hg) in coal is crucial for understanding the natural Hg cycle in the Earth's system, as coal is a natural Hg reservoir. We conducted analyses on the mass-dependent fractionation (MDF), reported as δ202Hg, and mass-independent fractionation (MIF), reported as Δ199Hg, of Hg isotopes among individual Hg species and ...

Interferometric Measurements of Isotope Shifts in Mercury II and Mercury III with Enriched Isotopes*

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1958
Interferometric measurements of isotope shifts in the visible region of a number of lines of singly and doubly ionized mercury have been made from sources containing enriched isotopes Hg198, Hg200, and Hg202. In particular those lines having large isotope shifts were carefully studied.

Mercury and Stable Isotopes of Carbon and Nitrogen in Mink

Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, 2007
Abstract Total Hg concentrations and values of stable isotopes (δ15N, δ13C) in tissues of mink (Mustela vison) captured in Rhode Island (USA) during winters of 1999 to 2004 were statistically distinct based on location. Mink captured in salt marsh environments (salt marsh group mink [SMGM]) had significantly lower mean Hg concentrations ...

Isotope Shift in the Spectrum of Mercury*

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1957
By using separated isotopes of mercury 198 and mercury 202, in sealed discharge tubes, the isotope shift in several lines from 16 000 A to 4000 A has been measured with direct recording techniques. A grating in crossed with a pressure tuned Fabry-Perot interferometer was coupled to electronic detectors to make a linear recording system.

Centrifugal enrichment of mercury isotopes

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2010
Abstract This work contains the results of the research of complete cycles of the centrifuge enrichment process of all mercury isotopes. As a result of this work, gram quantities of enriched isotopes of mercury by the centrifuge enrichment processes were obtained for the first time in the world.

Shape isomerism in mercury isotopes

Nuclear Physics A, 1975
Abstract We study the energies of the mercury isotopes in their oblate, prolate, and bubble shapes within the framework of the single-particle K -matrix theory. A change from an oblate ground state to a prolate ground state is observed when the mass is decreased from 184 to 182.

Tracing Mercury Contamination Sources in Sediments Using Mercury Isotope Compositions

Environmental Science & Technology, 2010
Mercury (Hg) isotope ratios were determined in two sediment cores collected from two adjacent reservoirs in Guizhou, China, including Hongfeng Reservoir and Baihua Reservoir. Hg isotope compositions were also analyzed in a soil sample collected from the catchment of Hongfeng Reservoir and three cinnabar samples collected from the Wanshan Hg mine ...
