Static Drainage H2/O2 PEM Fuel Cells Enabled by Water Transport Plates: Pore‐Scale Design and Transport Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The WTP is a key component of static drainage PEMFCs, enabling cathode water removal and gas sealing through capillary forces. This work investigates the mechanisms governing WTP drainage and sealing performance and develops predictive approaches for WTP design optimization.

Mercury-induced motor and sensory neurotoxicity: systematic review of workers currently exposed to mercury vapor

open access: yes, 2018
The neurotoxicity of elemental mercury (Hg0) is well-recognized, but it is uncertain whether and for how long neurotoxicity persists; among studies that evaluated previously exposed workers, only one examined workers during and also years after exposure ...

Bioenergetic Materials for Tissue Regeneration: Modulating Metabolism to Promote Cellular Anabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bioenergetic materials (BEMs) modulate cellular metabolism to promote tissue regeneration. Their principal mechanisms of action include metabolic substrate supplementation, metabolic enzyme modulation, organelle transfer, electrical current regulation, redox homeostasis modulation, and oxygen tension modulation.

Nonlinear Ion‐Specific Control of Underwater Adhesion by Bottlebrush Polymer Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The efficiency of underwater adhesion is modulated by ion‐specific effects. Strongly hydrated Na+ remains separated from the mica surface by its hydration shell, preserving access to binding sites, whereas weakly hydrated K+ can partially dehydrate and occupy ditrigonal cavities.
