The Evolving “Importance” of Social and Governance Measures Over Time

open access: yesGlobal Policy, Volume 16, Issue 5, Page 1021-1038, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Countries either converge or diverge in their social and governance performance. This dynamic directly influences the ability of social and governance indicators to differentiate between countries, with divergence increasing their information content and convergence diminishing it.

Score‐based tests for parameter instability in ordinal factor models

open access: yesBritish Journal of Mathematical and Statistical Psychology, Volume 78, Issue 3, Page 996-1024, November 2025.
Abstract We present a novel approach for computing model scores for ordinal factor models, that is, graded response models (GRMs) fitted with a limited information (LI) estimator. The method makes it possible to compute score‐based tests for parameter instability for ordinal factor models.

My Home is My Post-Office: Evaluation of a decentralized email architecture on Internet-of-Things low-end device

open access: yes, 2017
Users predominantly access their email via mobile devices. This presents a two-fold challenge to the email applications. First, email's update from multiple devices has to be eventually reconciled with the server.

Do emotions represent values and how can we tell?

open access: yesMind &Language, Volume 40, Issue 5, Page 492-505, November 2025.
Do emotions represent values? The dominant “content view” has it that they do. But there is a newcomer on scene: the “attitude view”. According to it, rather than representing value properties, there is a value‐relevant way you represent the targets of emotion.

Large Carnivores Persisting in a Human‐Dominated Landscape: Suitable Habitat and Connectivity for Asiatic Black Bears in China

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2025.
This study reveals that suitable habitats for Asiatic black bears in China are highly fragmented, with poor connectivity between core habitats, making conservation efforts urgently needed. Using the MAXENT model, the study predicted the distribution of suitable habitats and planned potential low‐cost migration corridors, providing a crucial basis for ...

Expression and mechanisms of behavioral plasticity in large mammals

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract Behavioral plasticity, the alteration of behavior in response to stimuli, is becoming increasingly important in the context of human‐induced rapid environmental change. Theoretical and empirical studies suggest that the expression and magnitude of behavioral plasticity are likely facilitated or constrained primarily by two factors ...

StorjLedger: An Innovative Distributed Storage Ecosystem That Overcomes Blockchain Trade‐Offs Using Erasure‐Coded Sharding and Proof‐of‐Storage Consensus

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2025.
StorjLedger leverages erasure‐coded sharding and Proof‐of‐Storage to deliver nearly 1000 transactions per second with sub‐second latency, 98% data redundancy, and 76% lower storage costs, resolving the blockchain trilemma by harmonizing scalability, security, and decentralization.

Herbivory Dominates the Spring Diet of American Black Bears (Ursus americanus) in a Wood Bison (Bison bison athabascae) Neonatal Range, Suggesting Minimal Bison Consumption

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 9, September 2025.
In this study, we used scat analysis and DNA metabarcoding to analyze the spring diet of black bears in the neonatal range of a small, threatened wood bison herd in northeast Alberta to assess predation risk of neonate bison. Our results suggest that consumption rates of bison are low and that predation risk to neonate wood bison, during the RLBH's ...
