Pancreatitis induced by mesalamine.
The Netherlands journal of medicine, 1992Sulphasalazine is an active agent in the treatment of chronic inflammatory bowel disease, but there are a number of well-known side effects, including pancreatitis. The newer 5-ASA agents are thought to be equally effective but less toxic. Here we describe a patient who developed a pancreatitis due to mesalamine; this was confirmed at rechallenge.
